On May 29, 2014 Williamson Strong’s Jennifer Smith sent an email to WCS Superintendent Mike Looney and Board Member Rick Wimberly, asking their thoughts about a Friends of Metro Schools primer titled How Our Schools Are Funded. “Would this be something that our group Williamson Strong could develop?” Ms. Smith asked Dr. Looney. “Yes…I think we could partner with WS to do it. Carol B. is on vacation this week but we could discuss upon her return,” Dr. Looney wrote back. [We assume Carol B. is WCS Communications Director Carol…read more

This is the second post in our series investigating Williamson Strong’s acquisition of “close to 5,000 likes in under a week,” a claim made June 25 by Williamson Strong co-founder Jennifer Smith on her Facebook page. A month later, co-founder Jim Cheney acknowledged the group purchased Facebook advertising, which generated a high number of likes from a country on the other side of the world. Despite this acknowledgment by Mr. Cheney, Ms. Smith is adamant that Williamson Strong has “no money” – a claim that was repeated on Williamson Strong’s…read more
